BFKL Pomeron at Weak Coupling

چکیده
We consider correlators of N = 4 super Yang Mills of the form A ∼〈O1O2O 1O 2〉, where the operatorsO1 andO2 are scalar primaries. In particular, we analyze this correlator in the planar limit and in a Lorentzian regime corresponding to high energy interactions in AdS. The planar amplitude is dominated by a Regge pole whose nature varies as a function of the ’t Hooft coupling g. At large g, the pole corresponds to graviton exchange in AdS, whereas at weak g, the pole is that of the hard perturbative BFKL pomeron. We concentrate on the weak coupling regime and analyze pomeron exchange directly in position space. The analysis relies heavily on the conformal symmetry of the transverse space E and of its holographic dual hyperbolic space H3, describing with an unified language, both the weak and strong ’t Hooft coupling regimes. In particular, the form of the impact factors is highly constrained in position space by conformal invariance. Finally, the analysis suggests a possible AdS eikonal resummation of multipomeron exchanges implementing AdS unitarity, which differs from the usual 4–dimensional eikonal exponentiation. Relations to violations of 4–dimensional unitarity at high energy and to the onset of nonlinear effects and gluon saturation become immediate questions for future research.

Evidence for the BFKL Pomeron from String/Gauge Duality
The high energy limit for hadronic scattering in QCD has two traditional forms: the so called soft Pomeron Regge trajectory for the tensor glueball state and the hard BFKL Pomeron for gluon exchange computed in leading order at weak coupling. This talk will show how AdS/CFT duality provides a natural synthesis of both approaches and will present the BFKL intercept in leading order at strong cou...
متن کاملThe Pomeron in the weak and strong coupling limits and kinematical constraints
We show that a resummation model for the evolution kernel at small x creates a bridge between the weak and strong couplings. The resummation model embodies DGLAP and BFKL anomalous dimensions at leading logarithmic orders, as well as a kinematical constraint on the real emission part of the kernel. In the case of pure gluodynamics the strong coupling limit of the Pomeron intercept is consistent...
متن کاملDiffusion into infra - red and unitarization of the BFKL pomeron
The BFKL pomeron in perturbative QCD is plagued by the lack of unitarity and diffusion into the infra-red region of gluon virtualities. These two problems are intimately related. We perform numerical studies of the evolution equation proposed by Balitsky and Kovchegov which unitarizes the BFKL pomeron. We show how diffusion into the infra-red region is suppressed due to the emergence of a satur...
متن کاملDirect calculation of the triple - pomeron coupling for diffractive DIS and real photoproduction
We present a unified direct calculation of the triple-pomeron coupling A3IP(Q ) for diffractive real photoproduction (Q = 0) and deep inelastic scattering at large Q in the framework of the dipole approach to the generalized BFKL pomeron. The small phenomenological value of A3IP(0) ≈ 0.16GeV, which was a mystery, is related to the small correlation radius Rc ≈ 0.3 fm for the perturbative gluons...
متن کاملThe Pomeron and Gauge/String Duality
The traditional description of high-energy small-angle scattering in QCD has two components — a soft Pomeron Regge pole for the tensor glueball, and a hard BFKL Pomeron in leading order at weak coupling. On the basis of gauge/string duality, we present a coherent treatment of the Pomeron. In large-N QCD-like theories, we use curved-space string-theory to describe simultaneously both the BFKL re...
